5.14 Pictionary
This time around we're going to play a game I've never played (always the best way to introduce a minigame, I'm sure) and completely stole the idea from
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
How to play:
(1) Okay first off you need to post a comment (you can say whatever you want in there as long as you include some variation of the line "CLUE PLEASE!" in there). It won't be screened so don't worry if everyone can see it.
(2) Next you need a village idio---I mean the mod for this minigame. *points to self* I will post a screened spoiler tagged reply to the comment which has the all important FF clue for you to draw. (Don't worry - I won't ask you to draw anything
If you cannot draw the clue I have given or don't know where it's from, reply to your original comment and say "PASS" (or alternatively "Toffee, you evil bastard, there's no way I'm drawing Garland in a push-up bra!", whatever gets the message across) and I will give you a new screened clue.
(3) Using either Paint or a free paint program such as Flashpaint, draw your clue. (Don't worry about making it look a wondrous work of inspirational art that will be heralded down the ages - just so long as you think it resembles the clue closely enough for people to guess it it will do.) You are not allowed to use words, numbers or any letter that can give a hint as to what the picture is supposed to be.
When your work is complete and ready to be shown to the internet, save it but do not give it a name that holds any potential clues as to what your picture is. (So calling your pic "CHOCOBO HOT AND COLD", "CHOCOBO" or "HOT AND COLD" is a bad idea. Calling it "BOCO AND CHOCO'S EXCELLENT VACATION" is probably not that smart either. "I CAN'T DRAW THESE DAMN THINGS" is an odd choice but it at least avoids giving the game away.)
(4) Once your pic is saved and ready to post, upload it on a free image host such as tinypic or wthax. Then include a link to your picture in a new comment. (This is to get round loading issues that images in comments can cause.)
DURR HURR HURR, I'M AN EXAMPLE.
(5) Wait for other ff_land members to guess the clue by replying to your picture comment. (Going "Can you tell what it is yet?" will most likely not yield any better results and may irk people who are stumped.) If they reply to you with the correct answer, respond to them with an affirmation and congratulations. (And if they don't it's nice to reply and commiserate.)
(6) ....PROFIT!
RULES & GUIDELINES THAT YOU SHOULD READ BECAUSE OTHERWISE I WILL ROYALLY SULK:
(1) Passes: You can pass TWICE and no more. If I give you a third clue that you cannot draw then tough, I'm off, I'm going to sit in my corner of the internet and huff because I cannot work like this! *artistic bitchface* (Nah, it's just that I need to maintain a challenge aspect and so if I let everyone have unlimited free passes it kind of loses that edge. To prevent passing issues you can state which games you're familiar with in your first comment so I can prevent asking you to draw something you simply don't know.)
(2) Clues: You can draw a maximum of THREE CLUES. After that I won't take your comments anymore and if you try hounding me to give you more clues I will get a restraining order. (Or just, you know, politely point out that you've had your turns and it's unfair to give you any more.)
(3) Guesses: You can guess on other people's clues a maximum of FIVE TIMES. This is so that everyone gets a chance to answer and to prevent smartasses from utterly dominating this game. (No offense to smartasses, I love you guys!) And this isn't five guesses per clue, it's FIVE GUESSES IN TOTAL. Use them wisely and think them over...
(4) Points: You get 5 points for each clue you make that someone guesses correctly. You also get 5 points for each drawing and 5 points for each clue you guess correctly. This makes a total of 30 possible points from drawing clues and 25 possible points from guessing clues.
(5) Remaining guesses but no clues: In the event that all players with remaining guesses have submitted as many clues as they possibly can I will post drawn clues (that I will not earn any points over since I'm running this) so they have a chance to use their remaining guesses.
(6) Participation rules: Participation rules have been omitted - you are free to make guesses even if you haven't submitted an entry.
